TOPCOAT 107
Nickel–chrome replacement with superior wear and corrosion resistance.
TOPCOAT 107 is an in-house developed nickel/carbide alloy designed as a cost-effective 1:1 replacement for nickel–chrome plating. Although material costs are similar, TOPCOAT 107 provides significantly better corrosion resistance and wear resistance, making it a durable and future-proof alternative.
A key advantage is that the coating is completely free of hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺). Its composition and application process eliminate health and environmental risks associated with traditional chrome processes.
The alloy combines the hardness of carbides with the flexibility and toughness of the nickel matrix. This results in a robust coating with long-lasting resistance against erosion, abrasion, friction and cavitation — even on components exposed to flexing or dynamic forces. Recommended coating thickness is around 125 μm, with a maximum of approximately 600 μm if required.
TOPCOAT 107is especially suitable for long, thin hydraulic rods that experience bending during operation; the coating’s toughness ensures reliability with minimal risk of cracking. Additional applications include mandrels, high-precision rollers in the film and paper industry, and the coating or repair of bearing and sliding surfaces.
