TOPCOAT

TOPCOAT is our original ceramic coating and remains a strong choice for a wide range of hydraulic and industrial components. The coating consists of a plasma-sprayed nickel-chrome adhesive layer with a minimum thickness of 100μm and an aluminumoxide/titanium oxide ceramic top layer of at least 200μm.

For many years,TOPCOAT was the only coating available for hydraulic applications. Even today, its corrosion and wear resistance make this dark, almost black ceramic coating suitable for most aggressive and corrosive environments.

TOPCOAT delivers balanced performance in corrosion protection, chemical resistance and wear resistance — at an economic cost level. Because of this, it is often chosen when a durable ceramic coating is needed but does not require the enhanced chemical or corrosion resistance found in our “+” or other variants. In demanding marine or offshore environments, or when long-term exposure to severe chemicals is expected, upgrading to TOPCOAT+ or TOPCOAT ULTRA+ may be the better choice.

Recommended roughness:Ra 0,2 – 0,4μm

TOPCOAT can be finished to very smooth roughness levels (Ra < 0,15μm), but we typically recommend Ra 0,2–0,4μm in combination with a Stepseal construction for optimal sealing performance and maximum service life.
